Mrs. Lehane Mrs. Lehane's English Language Art's Class

Welcome to Mrs. Lehane's ELA page!  Where reading is fun!

Please contact me when needed at 992-6390 X 237 or by email at lehanet@duvalschools.org.

Scholastic book orders are going home August 30th(Monday) and are due on Sept. 10th(Friday).  The kids are extremely excited about the books in the catalog and some are as cheap as $1!  Our class currently has 3 catalogs to select from on the website. I did not have three catalogs for each student, so do not get confused when you are on the web site. You may select from any one of the choices.

A parent letter is attached to the order form giving you instructions on how to order online.  It's fast and easy and best of all our class gets $3 towards books for the class for each order placed online!  You can still place an order using the order form and send it in with a check or money order if you prefer.  You can access the site by going to www.scholastic.com/bookclubs

(If you are having trouble let me know. This is the first time I have used the on-line ordering, so there may be a learning curve. Thanks for your understanding.)

This week students will be taking the Reading Benchmark test required by the county. They will also be taking the Writing Benchmark Assessment.

In Reader's Workshop this week we will be working on building our reading stamina and setting goals to meet. We will also continue our read aloud Kenny and the Dragon  by Tony Di Terlizzi. Student's will continue learning about  Reading Bingo.   We will be going over the different ways to respond after completing a book.  I will be starting conferences with students to discuss their reading and check their Reading Log.

Please check your child's Reading Log as well as their Reading Bingo card to help keep track of their reading.

Students need to read at least 6 books or equivalent, this marking period in order to meet the standard.

We are also started our Read Aloud which is a Battle Book! Ask your child what book we are reading!
